School facilities will stay closed for the 2019-2020 school year, ending in May. Reopening will be determined at a later date.
TEA has issued guidance that school districts will be granted waivers for days missed as long as instructional support is being provided to students. The district will apply for the waiver and does not anticipate the school year extending into any days in the summer of 2020.
No, prom has been postponed to May 16th. This is contingent on any city, county, and state regulations still in place at that point in time.
The graduation time and date have not been changed at this time. If the school closure extends further to the end of the school year, it is possible that plans may be altered. Families will be notified immediately by the high school if any changes are made.

The Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA or Act) requires certain employers to provide their employees with paid sick leave and expanded family and medical leave for specified reasons related to COVID-19. These provisions will apply from April 1, 2020 through December 31, 2020.
Distance learning enables students to access learning activities from home while school is closed. Assignments, lessons, and activities will be provided to classes by the classroom teacher. Distance learning provides flexibility in when, where, and how students access learning.
Classroom teachers will contact each student and/or parent on how to access classroom assignments. Most teachers are using Google Classroom or Canvas to provide and collect assignments. Teachers are also utilizing WebEx to host video conferencing meetings with students.
Please contact your child’s teacher for additional information or help with assignments.hat are the student expectations:
Grade level/content teachers will communicate directly with students and parents regarding assignments and due dates.
Teachers will provide a variety of activities/assignments. Some will be for a formal grade and others will be to assist teachers in determining the students’ level of understanding of specific skills. Any assignments that will be used as a formal grade will be labeled as such. Teachers will work with students individually to meet requirements of any IEP, Section 504, ELL plans. Please contact your child’s teacher with questions regarding the grading of any assignments.
Special education and ELL teachers are working closely with general education teachers to ensure work is appropriate and modified as necessary. Student progress will continue to be closely monitored by case managers so that needed adjustments can be made.
Special education teachers and instructional staff will make every effort to deliver the services and service minutes indicated in each student’s IEP utilizing the platforms available.
Please reach out directly to your student’s teacher should you have questions or for guidance on how to assist your child at home.
If you are having trouble accessing your child's grade book, please email ghocking@argyleisd.com
Argyle ISD facilities are closed until further notice, but we are still instructing. That means that no one attends classes in a building, but students receive instruction from home through Webex Teams, Google Classroom, and other means.

Board Policy EIA (LOCAL) governs grading/progress reports to parents in AISD. The District establishes instructional objectives that relate to the essential knowledge and skills for grade-level subjects or courses. These objectives address the skills needed for successful performance in the next grade or next course in a sequence of courses.
Assignments, tests, projects, classroom activities, and other instructional activities are designed so that each student’s performance indicates the level of mastery of the designated District objectives.
Teachers will continue to review student work while they support off-site instruction. Teachers grade 1-2 assignments per week in each content area, and also offer other opportunities for demonstrating proficiency such as participation, questioning, and collaborating with parents. Teachers during this closure may call the parent and discuss the progress of the child and offer guidance. Parents are partners with the school in this endeavor.
Grades will be recorded to allow parents and students to understand progress.
Grades taken after March 5th, in combination with prior work, will be used to determine progression to next grade in Grades PK-8.
Late work is accepted.
Participation activities such as online class discussion and posting comments on assignments can be counted for grading purposes. Parents may send pictures of work or recordings.

AISD plans to have a graduation ceremony. This may not happen until June or even July, but the plan is for it to happen as soon as possible after social distancing is no longer required. Eagle Stadium is a suitable place for holding the graduation and would give seniors a place of familiarity if UNT is not available.
GPA for seniors was frozen after the third ninth weeks grading cycle, so this closure has not impacted senior GPA or rank.
GPA will be frozen after 27 weeks for this year only for these students.
Middle School and High School students will not have final exams this year. All students in Grades 6-12 will be considered exempt from final exams for Spring 2020.
Lengthy exams are not appropriate because of the closure. The STAAR tests for Grades 3-8 and STAAR EOC tests for English I and II, Algebra I, Biology, and US History were cancelled by the Texas Education Agency.
Recent information from TWU states that a letter grade will be given for the course. This is intended to ensure transferability of the hours from one institution to another and also to ensure that if a student needs a certain grade in a class for admission to a particular program, the grade will be readily available.
